Your elected officers (Larry Burks President, Howard Weinberger VP) for the Pole Creek Men's Club want to reach and welcome you all to another season for PC Men's Club! The 2021 season will kick off soon as soon as the snow all goes down the river! We have assembled a great squad to lead the way this season with Charlie Carrol as the Treasurer, Shawn Moynahan, Ed Steinauer and Kurt Fuller are also members of the Board . We wish to Thank Digger and Howard for all the hard work over the past years.
The fee for being a member of the Men's Club is $150 which includes your USGA GHIN Handicap set up at Pole Creek ($115 for players with their own GHIN at another course) and your entry fee covers 2 free lunches and the year end Awards Banquet! Being a member also gives you the opportunity to play in the club championship. See requirements below.
Hopefully the course will open soon and we can all get out to play! We have scheduled the season opening round on May 23rd as long as the course is open at that time. The official kick-off day will be June 6th which will start the Match play and also be the first free lunch day! Don't miss this date. The Member Guest Tournament will be July 9th - the 11th. The 9th is practice round and the famous horse race! The Men's Club Championship Tournament will be held on August 14th and 15th! Get your golf fees paid ASAP.
We are excited to kick of the 2021 season with some fresh new blood or old blood as in the case of Larry as President. As usual we will have our scheduled game on Sundays with a starting date to be May 23rd weather permitting. This year as last year you will have the choice of which tees you would like to play from with the choices being, Blue, White or the Combo of White/Gold tees we set previously. No matter which tees you choose you will receive strokes based on your handicap for that set of tees. To play the Combo tees a player must be over 70 years old and have a handicap index higher than 12. The Sunday game entry fee will be $10 with an option to play in a skins game for an additional $10 per player. Pro shop prizes will be awarded for the game minus a closest to the pin contest cash award. The Sunday Game each week will be a Gross and Net Winner one with the number of places paid determined by the number of players. The $10 Skin game will be paid out in cash and handicaps will be applied to determine the winners. This year we will pay out for a gross and net skin award but you can only win one per hole. This allows the opportunity for more players to win.
To play in the Club Championship you must have played a minimum or 3 days played in Men's Club Weekly Game and have a minimum of 10 posted rounds at Pole Creek. We are setting the guidelines for Sunday play so that you must register by 5PM the Friday prior to Sunday play. The starter will have your scorecards and the daily game rules including what course conditions are as far as playing the ball down or not. Larry like to play the ball down more! Example: Winter rules and defined as to what those are and the type of game to be played each week will be the Gross and Net Game with one Sunday a month a special type of game instead of the Gross and Net Place winners.
We are excited to have more players join and hope you will bring in more members too! The board is continuing to brainstorm new ideas of how to improve the Club and will be announcing some of them in the near future.
