| (May 19th) Hello fellow Men's Club Members - I hope your spring is going well. The weather seems to be finally warming up and the course is in fantastic shape. A bit chilly this past weekend, but getting toasty this week. It won't be long now when we will be wishing for some cool days!
Men's Club News: We are fully underway now with all league play and with the Classic and Individual Match Play tournaments. Don't forget, you need to complete your 1st round matches by May 31st. Now is the time for you to start gathering up your best friends and getting signed up for the Men's Club Guest Day on Wednesday, June 17th. If you have a season golf and cart pass to Pebble Creek, it will only cost you $20 this year (cost of dinner and prize fund), and if you are a non-season pass holder or guest, the cost is only a measly $65. You can also bring more than one guest and partner with him/her. All teams must be member/guest and all you need to do is pay an additional $5 for each extra guest you want to partner with. If you are having trouble finding someone to bring, we have a waiting list of guests wanting to play that need a member partner. Contact Gary Obele or Warren D. Johnson and they will set you up. Also, a huge thanks for the generous support to all our sponsors for Guest Day! Check out our web site (www.pcmensclub.com) for more details. Past Event Results: MPGA MidAm/Individual Low Net - yes, I know, this was not a men's club event but it was played at Pebble Creek this past weekend (May 16-17) and we did have a number of members entered. In the MidAm division, which played from the Championship tees at gross scoring, Scott Holt and Steve Whittaker tied for 3rd! That is some great playing, especially considering the brutal winds and cold on Saturday. In the Individual Low Net flights: in the 1st flight Eric Gohdes took second and Dave Landreville took 4th. Also, Tony Graning came in tied for 12th. Great playing, guys!! In the 2nd flight, Mel Doherty was tied for 6th and Mike Doering tied for 8th. And in the 3rd flight, Brian Dingmann tied for 6th and Jim Anderson was tied for 8th. In general, a pretty fine showing for the Pebble Creek Men's Club. Great job by all those who entered and played in the event!! Spring Kickoff - Colors - Saturday, May 2nd. Congratulations to the team of Dave Landreville, Andy Cleland, Todd Hanrahan, and Barry Ashmore for taking the title of this somewhat new event with a team score of 205. Dave Landreville put up a spectacular round of 69 himself!!. Coming in second with a team score of 216 was Josh Tennie, Dave Hollander, Ryan Isaacson and Ted Crowe. Nice job, guys! ?From the feedback we got, everyone really seemed to enjoy this new format and had a great time. Upcoming Events: High Ball Low Ball - Saturday, May 30th. This will be a morning event. Players will sign up in two man (pick your own partner) teams. The tournament directors will then pair up two man teams into four man teams to balance team handicaps. This is a 4 person team event using the team's low net ball added to its high net ball. To tighten up the scoring, the team's high net ball can never exceed a net double par. Easy as 1-2-3 - Saturday, June 13th. This will be a morning event. Teams will be randomly drawn by handicap to include an A, B, C, and D player. All players will play from the blue tees. On each hole, the team will count: one net ball on all Par 3's, two net balls on all Par 4's, and three net balls on all Par 5's. Men's Club Guest Day presented by StarCor Credit Union - Wednesday, June 17th. Shotgun start at 1:00 pm. This will be a two man best ball tournament over 18 holes. Cost for the event includes green fees, riding cart, free range balls, buffet dinner, prize fund, gift ball pack. There will be a skins game, player's pool and horse race available. This is always a great time and a great opportunity for you to bring a couple friends out to enjoy a terrific golf course and have a great time together. Just a couple of quick reminders: there will be NO LEAGUE PLAY on Wednesday, June 3rd due to the State High School golf tournament. In addition, tee times will probably be limited to the blue course for public play (don't quote me on that. Check with the Pro Shop). Also, there will be NO LEAGUE PLAY on Wednesday, June 17th because of Guest Day. Other than that, everything seems to be going very well this year. Our men's club membership is nearly at last year's level, which is fantastic considering the economy and some other changes we made. Also, participation levels look to be on the increase as well based on the numbers we saw in the first weekend event and sign ups for upcoming events. We had nearly double the number of participants in the Spring Kickoff this year compared to last year. So keep it up 'fellas!! Like they say, "You can't win if you don't enter". We (the board) are trying to do a better job this year of communicating information to you members through flyers and all my annoying emails :). So, if you have any comments or feedback on what we can improve on, we will be glad to hear it. Just email me or any board member. The same goes if you have questions or don't understand something. Just get in touch with one of us and we will be glad to answer any and all questions. Next Board Meeting is Monday, June 1st at 6:00 PM in T's Restaurant if you want to sit in. See you at the course, Mark Staller Club Secretary Our Guest Day sponsors. Thanks again!
