Pebble Creek Men's Club Newsletter
March 2010
(March 11th) Hello fellow men's club members:  long time since you have heard from me isn't it?  Have you missed me and these newsletters?  :)
I can hear the chorus of "Not!" and "yeah, right!" out there from you.  There has not been a lot of news the past few months, and to be honest, I have just been too lazy to make something up.  But, now as spring is arriving and the snow is melting fast, we are getting ready to embark on another fabulous golf season at Pebble Creek.

Men's Club News: In case you have not been checking, the website has been updated with all the latest information on the events and leagues for the upcoming season.  There is no change to 9-hole league, but in the 18-hole league we have changed the number of scores being counted to 12 of 16.  That way you can miss up to 4 weeks of play and still be eligible in 18-hole league.  In the senior league, it will be 13 of 16 scores counted.  This will make it easier on all the players knowing that they can miss a few weeks due to work or family issues and not be out of the running in that particular league.
Once again this year, all league and event play will take place from one set of tees (the blue tees) unless otherwise specified for a particular event.  There will be NO league play on Wednesday, June 16th due to the State High School tournament taking up the course, and on Wednesday, June 23rd when we will be having our annual Guest Day.
We are also working on some new bulletin boards down near the locker room and organizing them a little better so you can find information easier on them.  There will be two bulletin boards specifically for Men's Club use that will have all the league, weekend event, and match play information on them.  There will also be a separate non-men's club board for the Duffers, Senior White tee league, and other miscellaneous golf related information to be posted.  So, if you want to post something about a charity golf tournament, want to sell some clubs, please post it there and not on the Men's Club boards.  That way people won't have to look all over to find the information they are interested in finding.

Upcoming Events:

- Saturday, April 10th - Open House. We are having the open house a few weeks later than normal this year.  If the weather continues to cooperate, the golf course may even be open for play that day!  Stop by upstairs in T's Bar from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM to sign up and pay your men's club dues and league fees, shoot the poop with the boys, and just relax and get back in the golf groove.

- Sunday, April 11th - Master's Event.  This is a pro shop event and open to the public.  The format is 2 man best ball where your partner will be one of the PGA pros playing in the Master's Tournament.  Full handicap will be used.  Make your own tee times, play your round, then come upstairs in the bar and root on your partner while watching the Master's on TV.

- Wednesday, April 14th - Spring Banquet.  We will be having a buffet dinner (pay as you go) and brief information meeting to start the golf season.  Banquet starts at 7:00 PM.

- Saturday, April 24th - New Member Open. This event is for new men's club members in 2010 and those who missed it in 2009.  We will have a brief information meeting in the snack bar around 11:00 AM followed by a quick tour of the facilities.  Then new members will be paired up with a board member and they will go out and play a round of golf, see the course, and be able to ask questions in a relaxed and informal setting.  It will also help new members get in a round for handicap purposes and a great way to meet some men's club members.

- Saturday, May 1st (AM) - Spring Kickoff - Colors. This will be the first official men's club event of the year and the start of our season. This is a 4 person team event using full handicap, teams will be randomly drawn.  Each player will be assigned a color and play his own ball. Team scores for each hole will be the 3 low net scores, one of which must be the player whose color is assigned to that hole. Each player will have 4 holes assigned to his color; 2 holes will be "free" (no color assigned), and any three player’s net scores may be used on those holes.   Colors will be assigned to each hole by a piece of tape or colored paper.

- Wednesday, May 5th - Golf League Play begins.  This will be the first of 16 weeks of league play.  The last night will be on Wednesday, September 1st with two bye weeks (June 16 and June 23).

That is about it.  Check out the website for more details
www.pcmensclub.com. We will have new handbooks for you at the Open House and Spring Banquet, so pick one up then.  In the mean time, keep checking the website for more information on upcoming events and results as they happen.  If you have any questions, complaints, or feedback, do not hesitate to contact me or any of the board members.  We will be happy to help out.

See you at the course,
Mark Staller
