| June 22nd) Hello fellow Men's Club members - how ya'll doing? Are you having a great golfing season so far? We sure can't complain about the weather (though they were a couple of spotty days recently) and the course certainly is in fantastic shape thanks to Dave Simeon and his staff. Now that summer is here, time to get out and get in as many rounds as you can.
Men's Club News: We had a very successful Member/Guest Day this past week, a big thanks goes out to Gary Obele and Warren D. Johnson for all their hard work in making this our best ever Guest Day. We had more participants than ever and it was extremely well run and organized. And we had some great food thanks to Tim Cox and the T's Staff. Of course, no event ever goes off without some kind of hiccup, and we certainly saw that again this year in getting the results done in a more timely manner. I'm sure that is at the top of Gary and Warren's list of things to fix for next year. Remember, there will be league play on Wednesday, July 1st!! Disregard what is printed in your handbook, we will be having league play that day. Past Event Results: Easy as 1-2-3 - Saturday, June 13th. Well, someone finally broke Dave Landreville's string of winning all the weekend events, sorry Dave :). We had a great turnout again for this event with 32 players and some great weather. There were two teams tied for first with scores of 134: the team of Dave Hollander, Mel Doherty, Dan Brannan and Lyle Herbst and the team of Mike Doering, Warren D. Johnson, Ryan Seavert, and Jim Hadac ham and egged their way around the course to tie for the title. Great playing guys! Upcoming Events: Saturday (AM), June 27th - Criers and Whiners. This is a new event added this year and is a perfect event for those of you who always complain "Darn, if I could just hit that shot again, I know I could knock it stiff" (actually the language I usually hear is much more "colorful" but I don't know who all reads these things, so I toned it down). Well, this event is your chance! This is an individual stroke play event. Players are allowed to replay as many shots equal to 100% of their handicap. A replayed stroke must be used, even it if it is worse than the original shot, and it cannot be replayed a second time. Player’s are not required to replay all of the shots they are entitled to. Any leftover shots from your 100% allotment can be deducted from your total gross score. No provisional shots allowed. Sign up deadline is this Wednesday, June 24th!! Saturday (AM), July 18th - 2-Man 6-6-6 Combination. Pick your own partner. 1st six holes – Scramble; 2nd six holes – Alternate shot; 3rd six holes – Best Ball. This is another great event, the alternate shot portion is what makes or breaks you and can be the cause of some great team "in-fighting" afterwards over a beer or two (or three or four or...). I think that is about it. I know as soon as I hit "Send" I will think of two or three things I forgot to mention (or someone will email me and remind me to mention something else), so don't be surprised if you get a couple more reminders from me. I was told to stop being so apologetic about harassing you with all these emails, so I am trying not to do that in this letter (see Struz - I didn't apologize once.....almost!) :)) Guys - I've got to tell you...this has been one of the more pleasurable men's club seasons in quite a while for me and the board of directors. We are seeing some new players come out and really enjoy everything the men's club offers, we are seeing better participation levels in our weekend events and less bickering, and we are even seeing some smiles now and then out of you. It is great to see! We still have plenty of events and golf left in our season, so try and make it out some weekend and meet some of the 'fellas. Also, don't forget to sign up for the 16 Man and 8 Man Senior MPGA teams for the July matches. See you at the course, Mark Staller Club Secretary Our Guest Day sponsors. Thanks again!
