Hello fellow Men's Club members:
First, the good news - Pebble Creek golf course is now open! The Red and Blue courses opened today and the White course should be open by next Wednesday, (barring any heavy rains, floods or God forbid, another snow storm!) So, get your tee times while you can. Course Superintendent Dave Simeon said that the course came through the winter in the best condition he has seen in the five years he has been at Pebble Creek. So we should have another great year of golfing!
And now for the bad news...yep, as you probably figured out by this newsletter, I am once again the Club Secretary. Don Hickerson took a new job in Rochester and had to move out of town so I am filling in for him this year. So you will have to put up with my monthly newsletters and other various notes and reminders periodically from me.
Now, let's get to the news...
Spring Banquet - judging by the turnout last night, many of you must have forgotten that we were having a spring banquet. I realize the golf course was not open, and I am sure that had a lot to do with the low turnout, but we all had a good time without you phhhhhtttttt! So there! :)
You missed a great opportunity to get your men's club dues paid and get entered in any league or events before they fill up. Don't wait until next Wednesday or the first night of league (May 7th) to get signed up and paid. There will be a mad rush those days as it is, so save yourself and us some headaches and get signed up and paid before then.
Weekend Event deal - Boy, do we have a deal for you this year! There are 8 weekend events on our schedule (actually six weekends, and two events on a Wednesday). If you plan on playing in all or most of those events, you can pre-pay $50 before April 26th and save yourself $30! (Each event costs $10 x 8 events = $80. By doing the pre-pay option of $50, you will be paid up for all 8 events and that will save you some money! See, I paid attention in math class). You must still sign up for each event before the deadlines, (you are not "automatically" entered, you are just paying in advance). But you must pre-pay before April 26th to get this deal, so get moving! Like they say, "You can pay me now, or pay me more later". Your choice!
Cash payouts for League and Year-Long Events - that's right, this year we are paying cash money (or shop credit if you choose) for the winners of all Wednesday leagues and the winners of the 2-Man Classic Match play and Individual Match play tournaments. Weekend events and Wednesday shop games will still be paid out in shop credits.
Men's Club Promotion Day - Wednesday, April 23rd. Once again the Pro Shop has been kind enough to allow us to have our Promotion Day. What is Promotion Day, you ask? Well, I am glad you asked me. Promotion Day is the opportunity for you to bring 3 of your buddies out for a FREE round of golf. That's right, a FREEEEEEE round of golf. All you need to do is purchase cart rentals. This is a great opportunity for you to show off the golf course and our men's club to your friends.
Spring Kickoff - our first official Men's Club event will be the annual Spring Kickoff on Saturday, April 26th. Tee times will be late morning/early afternoon (warmer weather as mornings are usually still quite chilly in April). The Spring Kickoff is a low gross/low net event with flights based on handicaps. The number of flights will be determined by how many players we get. Sign up deadline is Noon on Friday, April 25th.
That is about it for now, except for one thing. If you have any questions concerning the Men's Club (leagues, events, fees, handicaps, etc, etc) please direct your questions to one of the Board Members rather than the Pebble Creek Pro Shop. There are a number of new employees at the Pro Shop this year and they are not familiar with our activities, so let's give them a chance to get up to speed before barraging them with questions that they have no idea how to answer.
